NFL Star Running Back Arian Foster To Appear In Summit Entertainment’s Draft Day

Casting News, News, Projects

ABC News out of Houston is reporting the star running back for the Houston Texans, Arian Foster, will have a role in the upcoming film Draft Day, starring Kevin Costner and directed by Ivan Reitman.

Coincidentally, filming of the dramedy will start this week in New York City during the actual 2013 NFL Draft at Radio City Music Hall.

In Draft Day, Browns GM Sonny Weaver (Costner) has the opportunity to save football in Cleveland when he trades for the number one pick on, you guessed it, Draft Day. He must quickly decide what he’s willing to sacrifice in pursuit of perfection as the lines between his personal and professional life become blurred on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with dreams of playing in the NFL.

Arian Foster will play Ray Jennings, a potential draft pick in the movie. (As a did you know: Arian Foster was signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent. After only playing six games his rookie season he would have three consecutive years where he would rush for no less than 1200 yards.)

Foster joins the already announced cast of Denis Leary, Sean Combs, Ellen Burstyn, Terry Crews, Rosanna Arquette, Chi McBride, Frank Langella, Chadwick Boseman, who recently portrayed Jackie Robinson in 42.

The film will also feature ESPN on-air talent Jon Gruden, Mike Mayock, Deion Sanders, Rich Eisen, Mel Kiper and Chris Berman.

This marks Foster’s second foray into acting following a role on an episode of Hawaii 5-0 earlier this year.
