Daniel Bryan was recently interviewed by The Brisbane Times during the WWE’s tour of Australia. Below are some of the highlights:
The differences between working for WWE and working the independent circuit: “Wrestling-wise, there’s a huge difference. You see me on the television, that can be under 10 minutes. On the independent circuit, the longest match I ever did was, I think, 76 minutes.”
Is he still the “World’s Toughest Vegan”?: “It was hard being a vegan on the road but that’s not why I stopped being a vegan. I developed a soy intolerance. I have to bring a lot of food with me [on the road] and sometimes customs agents are not sympathetic to my plight. Being a vegan without soy is very, very difficult.”
What it is about music that inspires him: “It’s interesting. Music is, ultimately, sounds that are appealing to you. People’s voices aren’t that important to me. I like lyrics that are socially and politically conscious. Know what I mean?”
“I really like Frank Turner. He’s on the road all the time. He’s a travelling musician – I’m a travelling wrestler. His plight is often my plight. For me, it’s about opening my eyes to new things. Or can state it in a new way? It’s this – we should be fighting together. That’s it.”
