Melvin Guillard vs. Ross Pearson to serve as co-main event of Oct. 26 UFC Fight Night

News

With the UFC’s return to Manchester already having a main event set, the night’s co-headline bout has also now been set.

Melvin Guillard (31-12-2 1 NC, 12-8 UFC) will meet British fighter and former ‘Ultimate Fighter’ winner Ross Pearson (15-6, 7-3 UFC) in the co-main event of the UFC’s next event in England on Oct. 26. News of the fight was reported by Ariel Helwani on Tuesday’s edition of “UFC Tonight”.

Guillard has struggled recently, going 2-4 over his last six fights, but after some changes in training camps, Guillard is promising a return to title contention. Guillard got back into the win column just under two weeks ago when he scored a second round knockout win over Mac Danzig at UFC On FOX 8.

Pearson has won two straight fights since returning to the lightweight division following two fights at 145 pounds, with both wins coming by knockout. He defeated George Sotiropoulos in December and Ryan Couture in April. Pearson will be fighting in his home country for the first time since a November 2009 win over Aaron Riley.

The Oct. 26 UFC Fight Night event will air on FOX Sports 2 and will be headlined by a middleweight bout between contenders Michael Bisping and Mark Munoz. Additions to the card are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
