Frankie Edgar vs. BJ Penn 3 Scheduled – TUF 19 To Feature Former Lightweight Champions

News

Dana White revealed some fairly substantial news tonight on Fox Sports 1’s “UFC Tonight.” Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn will conclude their trilogy with a fight after coaching on “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 19.

Edgar defeated Penn twice in 2010. The first was at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi via a very close decision many felt Penn won. Edgar would defeat Penn in an immediate rematch at UFC 118, where Edgar would win in dominant fashion. Penn has since fought four times at welterweight, defeating Matt Hughes and drawing with Jon Fitch before losing to Nick Diaz and Rory MacDonald.

The fight will be at Featherweight, where Edgar has fought twice since losing to Benson Henderson for the second time. This will mark Penn’s debut in the weight class. The season will feature middlweights and light heavyweights.
