What happened in wrestling history during the week 11th November – 17th November?

As it turns out, not a great deal happened this week. 

Major Events:

1980 – Tony Garea & a Not Yet The Model Rick Martel defeated The Samoan Swat Team for the WWWWWWF Tag Team title.

1993 – Clash of the Champions MCMXCIII

1993 – Eastern Championship Wrestling held their first “November to Sorta Remember” show. Mr. Hughes defeated Johnny Gunn in a thrilling main event. Thrilling.

Title Changes:

1967 – Pat “The Bomber” O’Conner and Wilbur Wright Snyder defeated Young Harley Race and Some Other Guy for the AWA Tag Team title

1975 – Nick Bockwinkel defeated Verne Gagne for the AWA Heavyweight title in a match probably no longer remembered by anyone.

1992 – The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express defeated the Heavenly Bodies for the Smokey Mountain Tag Team title for about the fifteenth time that week.

1999 – Scott Hall defeated Bret Hart, Sid Vicious & Goldberg for the WCW US Heavyweight title. That can’t possibly have been good.

Career points:

1975 – Tony Parisi & Louis Cerdan defeated both Blackjack Lanza AND Blackjack Mulligan for the Blackjack Tag Team title. Tony Parisi later became Blackjack O’Shaunessy and Louis Cerdan was referred to simply as Black Jack.

1993 – Jeff Jarrett achieved his career pinnacle by winning the USWA Tag Team title with Lawler’s son.jeffjarrett1

2000 – Lance Storm defeated General E. Rection (HAHAHA it’s like erection….is this thing on?) for the WCW US Heavyweight title. Lance Storm looked embarassed.

2005 – Eddie Guerrero’s final pro-wrestling match occurred, where he defeated Ken Kennedy via disqualification. What a way to go out.

Fun Facts:

Eddie Guerrero was found dead in his hotel room in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the age of 38. An autopsy revealed that Guerrero died as a result of an massive cardiovascular implosion – likely due to WWE making him eat masses of Charleston Chew for promotional purposes the night before.
