Murtz On The Scene: Exclusive Interview With Degrassi‘s Cristine Prosperi & Niamh Wilson

Tonight is the night we have been waiting for as Degrassi‘s 14th season kicks off at 9 p.m. on MTV!

On July 29, I attended the Season 13 Finale Screening party at the MTV Building in downtown Toronto.

Just prior to screening the final two episodes of the season, I caught up with a variety of castmembers to discuss what would happen in the finale and to offer a preview of what to expect when the show returns next week.

I sat down with Cristine Prosperi & Niamh Wilson to discuss their characters and the new season. Cristine and I started with a walk down memory lane as this was our fourth consecutive Degrassi parking lot party and we talked about everything that has changed since Imogen’s initial debut. I also asked Cristine if she is getting any feedback from Fimogen fans who miss Fiona and who are taking some time to warm up to her new relationship with Jack. Niamh and I talked about the pressures that come along with playing Imogen’s new love interest on the series (considering how beloved Fiona was). Cristine opened up about why innocent and carefree Imogen always seems to go for the bad girls like Fiona and Jack. Niamh discussed the fact that fans of the show haven’t really gotten to see Jack’s other side yet and how she is a softer character than we might think. I love giving Cristine a hard time about her Instagram dominance and how she almost always finds herself at the top of the trending page so (as has become the norm in our interviews), we discussed the popular social network as well. When I asked both to pick one other Degrassi character that they would like to play for an episode, they picked the same person. Finally, the pair offer a preview of the upcoming season.
