Weekend Box Office Report, January 19-21, 2018 (Jumanji, 12 Strong)

Box Office

Welcome to the third weekend box office results for the film year 2018! I’ll be recapping the Top 10 moneymakers over the weekend, and noting their weekend take, total take, plus their change on the list and how many consecutive weeks they’ve been in release. So, for example, movies are listed like this: 1. Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($52.5 million; $517 million) (1, 3). That means the film made $52.5 million over the weekend, with a total of $517 million; it was also number one the previous week, and that it was its third weekend in release. Make sense? Good.

1. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle ($20 million; $317 million) (1, 5)
2. 12 Strong ($16.5 million; $16.5 million) (N, 1)
3. Den of Thieves ($15.3 million, $15.3 million) (N, 1)
4. The Post ($12.2 million; $45.2 million) (2, 5)
5. The Greatest Showman ($11 million; $113.5 million) (4, 5)
6. Paddington 2 ($8.2 million; $25 million) (7, 2)
