In an update of a long-running rumor, sources are noting that long-awaited WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships are now an issue of “when” rather than “if”.
Since WWE started pairing up their female talent (Bayley & Sasha, The IIconics, The Riott Squad), fans have been clamoring for a women’s tag team division. Now it appears that fan’s prayers will be answered… it’s just not too clear as to when. With the ground-breaking WWE Evolution taking place only 3 weeks away, it seems to be the perfect place to debut the new belts. But apparently they were originally scheduled to be revealed around SummerSlam except the company postponed it.
Now with the all-women’s PPV a reality, there is a very real sense that WWE might use it to introduce the titles. If this happens, Stephanie McMahon will more than likely make the announcement and it is expected that the titles would be a joint brand initiative, allowing both RAW and SmackDown talent to challenge for them similar to the old WWE Undisputed Championship.
There is even talk of having legendary teams such as Trish Stratus and Lita as a part of the roster to establish prestige for the dormant titles.
