“Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse and Aquaman”

Welcome to the column where we talk about the two movies that are being released this month.

Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse and Aquaman. Two movies with leads that have never gotten a movie of their own.

Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse

Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse is an animated 3D CG movie starring Miles Morales, a new Spider-man and the various Spider-men from across the multiverse. It is a Sony film which is something to consider. Now when this movie was first announced, I wasn’t terribly excited. Sony has a very bad track record of giving us so many unwanted movies that we don’t care for. But the first time I saw the trailer, I instantly got hyped.

Now what made this awesome and so liked now? First the movie actually looks really really good. It has been nominated for several awards for its nomination. There is also the novelty of seeing so many different Spider-men and spider women on screen and the first movie to actually use the concept of the multiverse. That is the biggest draw of the movie as a whole. In my opinion, the fact that they are focusing on miles is a welcome one. I love peter and the fact that he is gonna be a mentor for miles in this one is really something I am eager to watch.

Spider-verse is loosely adapted from a comic storyline and this movie; so far it has received generally great reviews and various accolades. With all this in mind, I am really happy with how it has turned out and believe this is the type of movie Sony should focus on in the future.

The Premise is a short one and reads as:

      • In the “classic Spider-Man mold”,

Miles Morales

      •  must juggle his high school life with his status as a superhero, as he is introduced to the “Spider-Verse” where there can be more than just one Spider-Man.

Aquaman

Aquaman is the latest entry in the DCEU franchise which has had only one legit hit so far. Nevertheless, Aquaman has been praised so far, Now I am personally not that huge of a fan of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, but he is doing a pretty decent job. The film also has Mera as one of the leads which is really awesome considering she is one of my fave characters from the comics. This film also uses the classic Aquaman outfit which looks really awesome which we already have been shown in the trailers.

The movie also introduces two classic Aquaman characters, Black manta and the Ocean Master. The DCEU has been praised and ridiculed for its dark universe. In my opinion, nothing is ever dark or light and the key is to find the balance between the both as a good super-hero movie should. So far Aquaman has shown every sign of doing that.

The premise reads as:

Arthur Curry

      • , the reluctant ruler of

Atlantis

    •  and King of the Seven Seas, finds himself caught between a surface world constantly ravaging the sea and Atlanteans looking to lash out in revolt, but committed to protecting the entire globe.

The Pulse
