It’s another very small week for me, with no debuts.

  • Low is coming back, after a very long absence. This post-apocalyptic (mostly) underwater series by Rick Remender and Greg Tocchini has been impressive – it’s got a lot of twists and turns to it, and a quickly-shrinking cast. I hope this next arc comes out on a regular basis
  • Other books I’m looking forward to this week are Heroes in Crisis, The Walking Dead, Killmonger, Uncanny X-Men, and Winter Soldier.

Just getting back from holiday break and had a lot of computer trouble the last few days, so keeping it short this week.

  • Conan the Barbarian #1 – Conan is back at Marvel after many, many years. I had a few random issues of Conan back in the day, though I have to admit that I vastly prefer DC’s Warlord when it comes to my scantily clad male heroes adventuring in savage lands. Though nothing will ever top the second What If Conan came to the mainstream Marvel universe where he becomes a pimp with his own leopard on a leash…
  • Man Without Fear #1 – Basically this mini is just a bridge between Charles Soule’s run on Daredevil and Chip Zdarsky’s upcoming run. This just screams filler to me. I am not trying to knock Jed McKay, but he’s just not someone I get excited about when I see his name on a comic.
  • Champions #1 –Jim Zub is a great fit for these characters, and I was happy when I heard this book would have a Legion of Super-Heroes vibe to it. Not sure it needed another relaunch, but I like a lot of these characters, so I am definitely picking it up.
  • Heroes in Crisis #4 – I have seen a lot of criticism about Harley Quinn managing to trick Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman in the last issue, but I love that kind of thing. Heroes in Crisis has felt a little slow at times, but I am still eager to see how this story all plays out.
