It’s a diverse week for me, with no debuts. I’m looking forward to reading new issues of Criminal, Dead Kings, Friendo, Gideon Falls, Livewire, Oblivion Song, Outer Darkness, Punisher, Survival Fetish (finally!), The Warning, and Winter Soldier.

Have I mentioned just how good both Oblivion Song and Outer Darkness are? Science fiction/horror comics at their best.

  • Wonder Twins #1 – Wonder Twins Powers Activate! Been really enjoying DC’s Wonder Comics line. It has always been odd to me that DC keeps trying to make Wonder Twins a thing, but the preview for this was entertaining enough for me to give this series a fair look.
  • Hit-Girl Season Two #1 – They finally have gotten around to releasing the Kevin Smith arc for Hit-Girl. Not sure why they felt the need to relaunch this series, each arc had been by a different creative team anyway. Real curious to see what Kevin Smith can do with the character. On a whole, I typically really enjoy his comic writing.
  • Marvels Annotated #1 – While the $8 price tag is hefty, Marvels has always been one of my favorite comic series. I love Busiek and Ross, and I would love to see a little bit more of what went into creating this masterpiece.
  • Avengers: No Road Home #1 – I think this is basically a follow up to No Surrender. I am not sure what to expect from this one, though they did show Conan will show up at some point. I liked No Surrender quite a bit, so I am looking forward to this one.
  • Savage Sword of Conan #1 – Speaking of Conan, Marvel seems to be trying to get the most bang for their buck with two Conan series running at the same time. The first three issues of Conan have been terrific, but I can’t help but think they may be oversaturating the market here. Two ongoing Conan series, his appearance in No Road Home, and they have announced a few spin off mini-series as well. I get Marvel wants to make sure the license pays off for them, but it just seems like a good way to turn the readers off.
