Spoilers, Top Story

DC Comics Universe and Doomsday Clock #9 Spoilers and Review follows.

Superman, Wally West The Flash…

…The End Of Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Firestorm…

…and Black Adam Strikes Like A Shazam Bolt?!

In addition to the slugfest between Justice League, Batman Family, Superman Family, Doom Patrol and more versus Doctor Manhattan in this issue (full spoilers here) there are other notable developments to DC Comics heroic stalwarts.

(1) SUPERMAN

Superman has been injured gravely in the last issue…

…and being tended to by his wife Lois Lane at the Justice League’s Hall of Justice.

Interestingly, Lex Luthor of the Legion of Doom easily enters and reveals that he gave Lois Lane the envelope with the revelation of a the forgotten Justice Society of America (JSA).

Lex Luthor gives Lois Lane a gun to make her comfortable as she feels he’s there to harm Superman.

In the end, he explains to Lois Lane he believes someone is manipulating reality; that’s a clear reference to Doctor Manhattan even if Luthor doesn’t know his name yet.

Lex Luthor also asks if Lois Lane knows the Wally West Flash because he, like the JSA, were impacted by the reality manipulating being.

(2) GREEN LANTERN GUY GARDNER

Guy Gardner is part of the DC heroes that confront Doctor Manhattan on Mars…

…and throws the first punch…

…leading to Doctor Manhattan destroying and/or absorbing Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern…

…so Guy Gardner is Green Lantern no more?!

(3) FIRESTORM

During the battle with Doctor Manhattan, Firestorm is…

…sent back into the past…

…and Ronnie Raymond learns that his Firestorm hero-mate Professor Martin Stein may have deliberately set up the nuclear accident that created the hero Firestorm!

Back in the present, Firestorm is rattled during the heroes battle against Doctor Manhattan.

The back part of the book as more Easter Egg post credit revelations including…

…a memo concerning Firestorm.

(4) BLACK ADAM and WONDER WOMAN

A running thread in the issue is Wonder Woman planning to speak to the United Nations to calm international tensions.

The Watchmen Ozymandias watches; at the same time, since readers may wonder, Batman spends this same issue healing from last issue on various panels on various pages.

The book ends with Wonder Woman addressing the United Nations and having her speech…

…interrupted by Black Adam and his countries super-human refugees!

The Pulse:

A thrill ride of an issue with lost of action, drama and plot movement with gorgeous art. I also wish there was more Easter Egg post credit back matter material. 9 out of 10.
