There are a lot of new books coming out this week!

Beasts of Burden: Presence of Others – I’m always down for some more Beasts of Burden, and for this two-issue series, original artist Jill Thompson returns! I can’t wait.

Fallen World – I’ve been interested in Valiant’s plans for Rai and their far future line, but they’ve not done much at all until now. With Adam Pollina on art, this was a guaranteed buy.

Gogor – I really liked Ken Garing’s two Planetoid series, so I’m down to check out his new title, even if I know nothing about it.

Nobody is in Control – This Black Mask title was supposed to start back in February, but it’s all good. Patrick Kindlon’s last book at Black Mask (There’s Nothing There) was great, so I have high hopes for this one.

I’m also looking forward to new issues of Black Hammer ’45, Deathstroke, Outcast, Paper Girls, Punisher, Star Wars, Uncanny X-Men, and The Walking Dead. I’ll pick up the DC’s Year of the Villain thing because it’s a quarter, but don’t expect much.

Busy day for DC with DCeased #1 and DC’s Year of the Villain #1 both coming out this week. We also have Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III #1. Year of the Villain sounds a bit like a retread of Forever Evil to me, but it’s only 25 cents, so I will check it out. I love Tom Taylor, so DCeased should be fun (but again, it sounds like a retread of Blackest Night). And Batman/TMNT is probably unnecessary. I am not trying to come off as cynical or edgy here, I actually wanna read all three of these books…but DC isn’t doing a lot of “new” these days.

Black Hammer ’45 #3 – I went on a binge read of Black Hammer this weekend, catching up on literally everything in the line. Jeff Lemire has an amazing vision for Black Hammer. ’45 has been a story of a group of black pilots during World War II. It’s a bit of a slow build compared to other Black Hammer stories, but the characters and setting are really well done, so I am real curious to see where this goes.

Savage Avengers #1 – A superhero team with Conan? Sounds like a real bad idea, but then you read Avengers No Road Home, and realized hey, this could work real well…Should be one weird title if nothing else.

Descendent #1 – Writer Stephanie Philips described her new Aftershock series as “Imagine National Treasure meets The X-Files and you’ll get close to Descendent. The story revolves around a conspiracy theorist named David who begins to piece together a mystery surrounding the disappearance of two politicians’ children. What David learns, however, sends him down the rabbit hole of a centuries-old conspiracy, complete with witches, monsters, and a cult, of course. To save the missing kids, David needs to earn the trust of FBI agent Joanna Hernandez and put the last pieces of the puzzle together before time runs out.” Sounds like my kind of book!

Fallen World #1 – Future fun in the Valiant universe. Rai was my favorite series in the original Valiant universe, so any time we get to see the future of Valiant, I am interested!
