The first time Pittsburgh’s George Romero hooked up with Italy’s Dario Argento, he was able to get the masterpiece Dawn of the Dead produced. The second time Romero and Argento joined creative forces they decided to make a film together yet giving each other their half of the film. Two Evil Eyes has each director making their own adaptation of an Edgar Allen Poe story in contemporary Pittsburg. Romero chose “The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar” with Adrienne Barbeau (Maude and Swamp Thing) while Argento did his version of “The Black Cat” with Harvey Keitel (Pulp Fiction). Now Two Evil Eyes is coming out in a three disc Blu-ray set featuring a new 4K transfers, plenty of bonus features and the soundtrack on a CD just in time for Halloween. Then in Argento’s The Black Cat, a deranged crime scene photographer (Harvey Keitel of FROM DUSK TILL DAWN) is driven to brutal acts of madness and murder by his girlfriend’s new pet. But will this cunning feline deliver a final sickening twist of its own?
