Milestone Media’s Static Shock New Series MIA, But That’s By Design?!
You may recall DC Comics announced with much fanfare the return and relaunch of Milestone Media with a whole slate of projects including a new Static Shock series beginning in February 2021 (full spoilers here).
While DC did deliver on its expanded digital back catalogue of Milestone Media titles and delivered a 17-page Milestone Returns #0 free comic book (full spoilers here), the DC Comics February 2021 solicitations did not include the promised Static Shock series.
Well, there’s a good reason for that; that new series is a digital-first (or digital-only?) series. If DC Comics follows usual practices, these digital comics will be collected in some fashion either in a comic book or tpb form at a later date. At that point Static Shock would make it into DC Comics solicitations which focus on print products and other ancillary products such as action figures, etc. So, a net new Static Shock series is still coming in February 2021, but in a digital fashion.
