In the summer of 1980, moviegoers got to see what would happen if a modern aircraft carrier had gone through a time portal and arrived at Pearl Harbor before the Japanese attacked. The Final Countdown was a science fiction-military mash up bound to please fathers and sons. The movie was star studded with Kirk Douglas, Martin Sheen, Katharine Ross, James Farentino, Ron O’Neal, Charles Durning and Soon-Tek Oh. While this seems like a big Hollywood production, you’ll be shocked to discover Troma legend Lloyd Kaufman was not only a producer on the film, but shows up in an acting role.
