DC Comics & Justice League Incarnate #1 Spoilers and Review follows.

Multiverse Is Sick, But…

…Does It Need To Bleed Or…

…Does It Need A Doctor?!

We open on Earth 8.

This is effectively the Marvel Earth as per the classic Multiversity Guidebook.

The issue continues from the end of the preceding Infinite Frontier mini-series and features Doctor Multiverse’s debut.

She diagnoses what ails the multiverse with her “multiverse vision” as action is set to ensue for this avenging Retaliators.

We then move to the core Earth of the core multiverse.

It is the current Infinite Frontier era Earth building on the New 52 / Rebirth version we saw in the Multiversity Guidebook.

Avery Ho, the Flash of the Justice League of China, is recruited by an alternate timeline’s Flashpoint Batman and a parallel Earth’s Superman of Earth 23.

Earth 23 has a Superman who is also the United States of America’s president.

Avery Ho transports to the Hall of Heroes and meets the rest of the Justice League Incarnate comprising of members from various Earths.

Aquawoman of Earth 11.

Captain Carrot of Earth 26.

Thunderer of Earth 7.

Dino-Cop of Earth 41.

There is a multiversal threat that involves the Barry Allen Flash and Darkseid’s New Gods that the JLI is preparing to foil.

Avery Ho can help by using her speed on a new Quantum Treadmill that can deliver her and allies to an alternate Earth in a similar fashion that the Cosmic treadmill does that for the timeline.

They end up back on Earth that has been devastated.

The Retaliators knew of the multiversal threat, but came to agreement to spare Earth 8 with the Psycho-Pirate.

Well, in the end this Earth is ravaged by Thanos Tartarus who…

…is confronted by a one-of-his-own-in-the-multiverse Darkseid; a Thanos Tartarus analog?

Well, he may be more powerful than expected due his armor being made from the metal of the various rainbow lantern corps!

President Superman saves Doctor Multiverse from getting stuck between Darkseid and Tartarus as…

…her Doctor Multiverse vision sees her Superman along with all the others of the multiverse.

Well, since its 2021 and the comics industry hasn’t done subtle since 1991, we see Darkseid break Tartarus’ neck presumably killing him.

Doctor Multiverse conscripts Avery Ho to help her on multiverse healing mission as…

…Darkseid’s sin Orion attacks the Hall of Heroes noting the multiverse can be healed in blood?!

However, is Orion the vanguard of or the foil of Darkseid’s approaching forces against the JLI?!

The Pulse:

Lots of action and exposition as we try to make this infinitely expanding multiverses resonate at an emotional level. The story was multi-layered and intriguing. I appreciate the different art styles, particularly when paired with their own Earth, but the transition could be jarring. I’m still intrigued. 7 out of 10.
