IN THE QUIET COUNCIL, NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU SCREAM!

The Quiet Council rules the Krakoan age, for better… or worse. Now, shaken by INFERNO and X LIVES / X DEATHS OF WOLVERINE they strive to hold together, no matter how much they want to tear each other apart. Writer Kieron Gillen (UNCANNY X-MEN, ETERNALS, The Wicked + The Divine, Die) returns to the world of X with artist Lucas Werneck (TRIAL OF MAGNETO) to bring us all into the room where it happens. “It” being “the most powerful people on Earth deciding the fate of the whole planet.” Prepare for sinister secrets to be revealed and learn that some secrets are more sinister than others…

48 PGS./Rated T+ …$5.99

While what’s gotten the most buzz about this issue surrounds Moira MacTaggert aka Moira X aka Moira X there is more to the issue.

There is high political intrigue with the bombshell that he is quitting his seat on the Quiet Council of Krakoa to go to Arakko and therefore be a lead character in the new X-Men Red series.

It was also interesting to read his perspectives on his fellow and soon-to-be former Quiet Council seatmates.

Magneto’s leave is followed by several mutants jockeying for his spot.

Including frontrunners Selene and…

…Hope Summers leader of the Five who are responsible for the Resurrection Protocol that readers are reminded of in this issue as well.

There is a vote where Mister Sinister’s knowledge of the future is tested, knowingly or unknowingly, by Destiny of all people.

That requires Mister Sinister to change his vote to get the outcome he expected or knew was to happen by through a slightly different vote; he wanted and got Hope Summers to replace Magneto.

The book ends with the sharing of updated versions of previous extras from recent years beginning with the new Quiet Council of Krakoa schematic.

Followed by a map of Krakoa.

Then the Orchis Protocol.

Surprised the Resurrection Protocol wasn’t re-shared so here it is over three pages from House of X #5 (September 2019).

Immortal X-Men #1 ends with the Destiny of X checklist and others titles to come.

The Pulse:

I enjoy political intrigue so I enjoyed this issue. Also emjoyed the Mister Sinister and Moira MacTaggert revelations and am intrigued by what Destiny and Mystique know or don’t know about that. Sad to see Magneto go though. Solid art. Entertaining issue. 8 out of 10.
