The Halloween 4K Collection (1995 – 2002) upgrades the fear for October

Disc Announcements, News

Halloween is coming close so it’s time for a visit from Michael Myers. The Halloween 4K Collection (1995 – 2002) upgrades the three movies that came between Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers and Rob Zombie’s remaking the story. Over the course of the three films, we say goodbye to a familiar character and get a surprise return to the former star of the series. Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers attempted to wrap up the Thorn Trilogy. This time the story jumps six years into the future. Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) is still looking for his former patient. Also along for the nightmare is Paul Rudd as Tommy Doyle. I know what you’re thinking – why wasn’t he in Halloween Kills instead of that Breakfast Club kid? Probably because David Green’s version ignores the sequels. There’s two versions of the movie presented here in 4K UHD. You get the theatrical release and the producer’s cut with even more footage recovered from the film vault. Another film that gets left out of references in the new Halloween series is Halloween H20. This came out for the 20th anniversary of the John Carpenter original. Since Donald Pleasence had died during post production of the previous film, the producers broke open the bank vault and lured Jamie Lee Curtis back as Laurie Strode. Sure, she killed Michael Myers at the end of Halloween II, but why let that get in the way of an anniversary party? She’s now the headmistress of a private school and Michael wants to reunite. The film also stars Josh Hartnett, Adam Arkin, Michelle Williams, Janet Leigh, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and LL Cool J. Even though we’re given a definitive ending, Halloween: Resurrection lets us know we were so wrong about the previous film. Jamie Leigh Curtis returns along with Michael Myers. Big name stars this time include Busta Rhymes, Sean Patrick Thomas, Katee Sackhoff and Tyra Banks. All three films will be presented on 4K UHD discs and Blu-ray discs so you can see Michael Myers more clearly in the shadows. Here’s the press release from Scream Factory:
