40 PGS./ONE-SHOT/Rated T+ …$4.99

We’ve been promised the true origin of Thor since the revelation some time ago that prehistoric Phoenix host was his mother while Odin was still his dad.

In this one-shot we see an obsessed Odin making it clear he wants Phoenix even conveying this at the moment the Avengers 1,000,000 B.C. dies in battle.

Years later, Odin’s list persists and he hosts a wedding for he and the Phoenix in Asgard that the bride was unaware of!

The Avengers 1,000,000 B.C. were invited and see this fiery Bridezilla rightfully enraged as an oblivious Odin is not clear why the Phoenix is responding the way she is.

While Phoenix wants to leave Earth she stays behind as the world still needs her.

Later, the Phoenix meets Gaea who Odin has turned his attention to after being rebuffed by the Phoenix.

It’s four long pages (2, 3 and 4 follow the above page) of word balloons where readers learn that the Phoenix may at one time have been in to Odin, the Phoenix does love the Earth and her creatures, and the Phoenix wants Gaea to give in to Odin’s advances?!

Well, Gaea accepts and later gives birth to Thor’s son, but he is dying so the Phoenix uses her force to heal him and seemingly imbue him with his thunder and lightning powers.

The book ends with Odin not even acknowledging Phoenix saving his son Thor as he and Gaea depart for Asgard.

The Avengers 1,000,000 B.C. appear over after Thor’s birth including Phoenix finally departing the Earth and planning to avoid Thor as she feels pain over having left him behind.

THE FISTS OF THE UNWORTHY THOR!

Meet the most broken Thor in the Multiverse. One who watched Asgard burn, watched Midgard be defiled and was helpless to stop it, as he’s a Thor who cannot lift his own hammer. In desperation, Thor will turn to another of the Earth’s great powers, becoming a pupil of the Thunderer of mystical K’un-Lun, the guardian of the immortal Iron Fist.

32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

The multiversal Avengers are recruiting a Thor, an unworthy one at that, from Earth 56337 who is quite literally haunted by the Mjolnir mystical hammer that he cannot wield, so, Thor resorts to punching it and hurting himself in the endeavor?!

He is met by Lei-Kung the Thunderer guardian of the mystical K’un-Lun of Iron Fist lore.

Thor is taken to K’un Lun where his training includes continuing to punch Mjolnir, blooding himself, until he seemingly can move it… a little.

That leads to Thor later actually besting Mjolnir and turning his back on it!

A battle with the K’un-Lun Thunderer follows that culminates with pupil beating master and Thor becoming a God of Fists (an Iron Fist) instead of the God of Thunder, but he’ll all Mjolnir to tag along with him.

It seems the multiversal Avengers have impeccable timing as they come to recruit him just as he assumed his new role.

THE LEGEND OF RENO PHOENIX AND THE STARBRAND KID!

The Avengers’ journey through time brings them to the Old West, where they cross paths with a couple of History’s Mightiest Heroes, whose six-guns are loaded with the greatest powers of the heavens. But is that enough to force a showdown with the forces of Mephisto? Or will the Avengers be lost in time forever?

32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

In the 1800’s on Earth 616, the main Earth of the Marvel Comics publishing multiverse, we meet two members of the the Avengers 1800’s  in Reno Phoenix and the Starbrand kid.

They fight all manner of threats including the Kree and Skrulls.

As well as Mephisto’s literal hired guns.

We don’t meet the other Avengers 1800’s, but the modern day Avengers pop on the scene to help out.

At least help out Reno Phoenix and the Starbrand Kid against the threat from a member of the Council of Mephisto.

Even then, they seem outnumbered.

However, they fight on with the more of the modern day Avengers entering the fight.

Good guys win, Avengers seemingly return to the present, as the Avengers 1800’s twosome ride off, but not into the sunset.

The ride into battle with the Mephisto possessed hanged man that opened the book and tempted cowboys to join his hired gun cadre

Next up is A.X.E.: Judgment Day tie-in issues for the Avengers, but then we have Avengers Assemble Alpha #1 which kicks of what seems to be billed as an event that will mark the end of writer Jason Aaron’s time on his Avengers titles.

Epic issues are promised.
