Adventures Of Superman: Jon Kent #1 Spoilers and Review.
The book opens with Earth 3’s Ultraman assassinating a Superman in the multiverse and this was not the Crime Syndicate icon’s first kill.
We then pivot to Earth-Zero or Earth-0 where Jon Kent is called to action.
This Superman has a different capeless costume now.
In the midst of his tackling the falling satellites mess his super-powers go a bit haywire.
However, we don’t see his Electric Superman Blue persona yet as things back to relative normal after that episode.
As part of his efforts he tracks a satellite to Earth only to see another Superman take care of the problem.
This is Earth 2’s Val-Zod Superman who notes he saw that Jon Kent had the satellite, but he wanted to help anyway.
His Earth 2 Justice Society of America (JSA) picked up Mister Terrific on the way to the Kent Farm as he knows that Lois Lane knows him.
Mister Terrific vouches for them, as he had adventures with them over a decade ago as part of the New 52’s Earth 2 series and spin-offs, leading to Val-Zod noting that Ultraman, Earth 3’s evil Superman, is killing Kal-El Supermen across the multiverse.
Ultraman has a device that weakens Kal-Els at a cellular level and the Earth 2 Red Tornado, that world’s Lois Lane, implores Earth-0’s Lois Lane to allow her son to help them knowing that Ultraman did to him in year’s past and stealing his childhood.
The Pulse.
Compelling story and solid art. Horrifying opening, but it sets the stage for the multiversal threat, plus a great cliffhanger to end on. 8.5 out of 10.
