After the major success of Hellraisers, Clive Barker was able to adapt another one of his books into a feature film. He chose Cabal. He even got David Cronenberg to play a character. The movie received the new title Nightbreed and turned into a horror show for Barker. No one at Fox knew what to do with the film. The film was edited down before release. The promotional material was botched. For a long while the film wasn’t held in high regard. But then things changed when the longer cut was discovered in the Fox vault. In 2013, Scream Factory released the Director’s cut that was 145 minutes instead of the 102 minute long theatrical version. Fans of Barker were thrilled. Now the Nightbreed Collector’s Edition is getting released with a 4K UHD transfer of the theatrical cut. Here’s the press release from Scream Factory with all the details:
