Where We Have Been.
The first two issues of this Avengers Volume 8 series have been very Kang centric (Avengers #1 full spoilers here), building on the events of Timeliness 2022 #1 (Timeless #1 full spoilers here) leaving Earth’s Mightiest Heroes waiting for a hospitalized Kang to awaken (Avengers #2 spoilers).

The Ashen Combine have arrived at Earth as their next challenge as interdimensional “cityslayers”.
Idol Alabaster attacks Vatican City in a psi attack seeking worshipers.
The Citysmith attacks Toronto, Canada, in what the Vision called a “metrokinetic” attack using the cityscape and its populace to make his “art”.
Lord Ennui attacks Manilla, Phillipines, in an entropic attack forcing the populace to lose order and descend into chaos.
The Dead attacks Sydney, Australia.
Meridian Diadem attacks Helsinki, Finland imprisoning its populace.
These attacks together appears to be deemed a “Tribulation Event”.
The Avengers mobilize against the threat.
Team leader has little intel from Iron Man and the Vision, but is able to make the match-ups taking Black Panther’s counsel.
The Avengers was disassemble and take on each of the Ashen Combine separately with the following match-ups:
- Thor vs. Idol Alabaster in Vatican City.
- A new look Iron Man vs. Citysmith in Toronto.
- Scarlet Witch vs. The Dead in Sydney.
- The Vision vs. Meridian Diadem in Helsinki.
- Captain Marvel vs. Lord Ennui in Manilla.
That leaves Black Panther and Captain America to infiltrate the Ashen Combine’s spacecraft seemingly dubbed the “Impossible City” that is in low orbit.
