Sam Raimi was already a name to know with his Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 being VHS tapes you needed to rent in the ’80s. At the start of the ’90s, he got a breakthrough hit in movie theaters with Darkman. Rami brought his love of horror and comic books together in this superhero influenced film. This was an original idea about a scientist (Liam Neeson) who experiments with synthetic skin. When things go wrong with a mobster, he becomes the Darkman. The film was a summertime hit.
