So let me get this straight.
Last night at WWE Extreme Rules, Alberto Del Rio and Jack Swagger battled in an “I Quit” Match to determine the No. 1 Contender for Dolph Ziggler’s World Heavyweight Championship.
And, at a crucial point in the match, Del Rio was (kayfabe) hurting badly and Zeb Colter tried to take advantage by taking Ricardo Rodriguez’ white towel and throwing it in the ring.
This whole thing happened behind the ref’s back, and so the official called the match for Swagger since he thought Ricardo threw in the towel himself.
What happened next was just equally hilarious and, well, “funny”.
With Swagger heading to the back, a second referee ran in and told the in-ring official that it was Colter who threw in the towel, sneakily. That’s all well and good as referees have always had interactions like that in pro wrestling.
But then, in a moment I’ll never forget, the ref asks the Timekeeper for his TV monitor so he could check out the instant replay himself to determine his final ruling. The replay proved Colter threw in the towel, the match continued, and Del Rio won shortly thereafter.
CB’s Slant: So, WWE, I ask you:
After all of these years of pro wrestling where countless heels have won numerous matches via shenanigans, are you f****** kidding me with this replay s***?
I don’t even want to fathom what’s next.
That’s all from me — CB.
