Last issue ended with Arsenal saying that the team had been infiltrated, and that one of them was a traitor. Hell of a cliffhanger, no? This issue picks up with Arsenal locking their base down and interrogating each member, one by one. The ending surprised the hell out of me, and I’m still not sure everything is the way it seems.

The writing is some of Winick’s best, as he really captures each character’s individual voice. Because of the interrogations, each character gets a fair portion of “face time,” which is good for someone like Jade, who hasn’t had much of a chance to shine. Anyway, we get to see subtle nuances of each character, especially in how they handle being interrogated.

Shawn Moll does a splendid job with the art. He manages to capture the emotions that Winick is writing perfectly in the characters’ faces. Not to mention, each character has a distinct face, which is sadly lacking in several artists’ work (Michael Turner, I’m looking at you).

A four-part crossover with Teen Titans begins next, and I’m really anxious to see where they’re going with this. Kudos to the creative team for another excellent month!
