Rachel McAdams says Oui to Woody Allen

Casting News, News

The former Mean Girl and romantic darling of The Notebook, Rachel McAdams was last seen as the conniving Irene Adler in Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes.

Now the actress is joining a new project by Woody Allen – in what would be his 46th film as a director. The film is still untitled and little is known about it’s plot. All we know is that she’ll be joining Owen Wilson, Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard and French first-lady Carla Bruni-sarkozy.

The Paris-set film is the last in a three-film deal with Spanish financiers Mediapro, a collaboration that also brought us Vicky Cristina Barcelona and the forthcoming You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, with Naomi Watts, Anthony Hopkins, Josh Brolin, Antonio Banderas, Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) and Anna Friel (TV’s Pushing Daisies).

McAdams will also be working with Terrence Malick this fall on a romantic drama that has her co-starring with Christian Bale, Olga Kurylenko and Javier Bardem.

Later this year she will co-star with Harrison Ford in the J.J. Abrams-produced film Morning Glory, which arrives October 28, 2010.

The Pulse: Woody Allen’s latest project is shaping up nicely with the addition of Rachel McAdams. Considering that it’s an Allen film I expect a lot of discussion of romantic relationships and I also expect squabbling between her character and Owen Wilson’s.

Sound Off: As Rachel McAdams continues to move further away from being associated with The Hot Chick, do you feel that working with the likes of Woody Allen and Terrence Malick will help her grow as an actress?
