What happens when you combine Grumpy Old Men with the thought process of a Judd Apatow-esque comedy? The answer: Dirty Old Men.
Warner Bros. is considering a still-yet-titled comedy spec by Josh Cagan (Bandslam) and Greg Coolidge (the upcoming Cockblocker). THR says Morgan Freeman is attached to star and Peter Segal (Get Smart) is eyeing to direct.
The script had a previously been called Dirty Old Men, and it’s a story that revolves around an aging playboy who finally meets the love of his life only to see his best friend and wingman for the past four decades (Freeman) do everything he can to break up the lovebirds. The mood of the comedy is described to be like the Vince Vaughn-Owen Wilson comedy Wedding Crashers and Judd Apatow’s The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
As for who would play Freeman’s buddy, studio Warner Brothers would like to see Freeman reunite with Bucket List co-star Jack Nicholson. Nicholson is aware of the DOM project but has not attached himself to co-star with Freeman.
