You guys, I think I’m done with Smash. Are any of you still watching it? Here are some of the major problems I have:
- Julia’s son. OMG! He’s awful. I mean, the actor has been as wooden as the chair I’m sitting on since the show began, but I thought he’d be a minor enough character that it wouldn’t matter. But no! Instead, he’s sobbing in the kitchen because his mom’s a slut. Speaking of which…
- This ridiculous affair storyline! I cannot take it anymore. There isn’t even an ounce of chemistry between Julia and Michael Swift. I don’t buy that they can’t keep their hands off one another, and I don’t buy that a veteran Broadway performer would demand to work out his own personal drama while rehearsing for an important workshop.
- Am I supposed to believe that Ivy blew that workshop? What was wrong with her performance? The actual musical was the one thing I liked about last night’s episode, appropriately titled “The Workshop”, and now I’m supposed to believe it was a botched attempt?
- A SEASONED BROADWAY PRODUCER LIKE EILEEN WOULD NOT BE CONSTANTLY HANGING OUT AT A DIVE BAR WITH ELLIS OF ALL PEOPLE! I’m sorry I yelled, but the ludicrousness of this situation demanded it. Eileen would not be friends with Ellis! They wouldn’t be going for drinks every night! She would not be flirting with the blue collar bartender just because he makes a mean martini!
I just don’t think I can do it anymore. Mad Men is returning soon and I have plenty of other great shows to watch. Why suffer through Smash any longer?
