The Winx Club exists in two realities. There’s the regular animated 2-D version the airs as a series on Nickelodeon. There’s also a CGI version with fairy characters that have 3-D shaped bodies that appear in the movies. Winx Club: Magical Adventure contains both a movie and episodes of the series so that young fans can enjoy both presentations. Magical Adventure is a 45 minute cut of the original Italian feature film. This might upset adult fans. For parents who have little kids that enjoy Winx Club, it’s probably good to get a reduced version. Bloom is excited about going to a Princess Ball until her date’s father forbids him from taking her. Making things even more of a mess is the Ancestral Witches destroying all the positive magic in the universe. Can Bloom and her friends save magic and get to the dance? Now you can know in half the time.
Kids who are familiar with the normal TV show won’t be disoriented. There’s also seven regular episodes including “The Spill,” “The Rise of Tritannus,” “Return to Alfea,” “The Sirenix Book,” ‘”The Lilo,” The Power of Harmonix” and “The Shimmering Shells.” This means that while the movie is reduced in half, there’s nearly three hours of Winx Club on the second DVD. That’s plenty of fairy fun to dazzle wee eyes. Here’s my daughter Josie’s review of the boxset:
The video is 2.35:1 anamorphic for the movie. The episodes are 1.78:1 anamorphic. Things look fine in the transfers. The fairy colors are bright. The audio is Dolby Digital stereo. Things sound fine since this is the English dub. The movie and episodes are Closed Captioned.
Quiz on the back of the booklet lets kids determine which Fairy are they most like.
Winx Club: Magical Adventures dazzle the kids with a fairy movie and 7 episodes from the TV show.
