Mike Swick had made a triumphant return to the Octagon after a nearly three year layoff at UFC on FOX: Shogun vs. Vera. Tonight, it was Matt Brown’s turn to step up to Swick as the two veterans of “The Ultimate Fighter” collided. In round one, Brown’s ground game was impeccable. While he was unable to get a finish in the first stanza, Brown’s D’Arce choke and triangle choke attempts put Swick on notice that he wasn’t safe if this fight stayed on the mat.
The second round started with Brown bullying Swick around the Octagon with elbows and knees. It wasn’t long before Brown leveled Swick with a left hook, connecting with a straight right as Swick went down in the corner to take the win. With the win, Brown improves to 16-11 overall and 10-4 in UFC.
Winner: Matt Brown by knockout (R2, punch, 2:31)
