Suicide Squad was initially estimated to make between $100 million to $130 million in its opening weekend despite mixed to poor reviewed by professional movie critics.
Stronger than expected Thursday and Friday screening had insiders revising their forecasts to an up to $150 million debut.
The final Saturday and Sunday numbers aren’t in yet, but it appears that movie-going slowed over the weekend, similar to other DC Entertainment / DC Comics films including critically acclaimed the Batman Dark Knight trilogy, the film looks to pull in $135 million. That figure still easily takes the all-time August opening weekend record from Marvel Studios / Marvel Comics Guardians of the Galaxy which debuted at $94 million in 2014.
