It’s already known that Don Cheadle is stepping into the role of James “Rhodey” Rhodes played by Terrence Howard in the first Iron Man film. That much is already a done deal.
But we hadn’t yet seen exactly what Rhodey’s alternate personality would look like except a quick glimpse from the first film. Remember this:
Rhodes (Howard) glances over after Iron Man flew out of the garage and sees a so-called prototype gray iron suit and simply states, “Next time, baby.”

Cheadle took over for Howard after a huge contract dispute that spilled over into the mainstream media big time. Seems Howard wasn’t happy with not being the highest-paid actor in the second movie as he was in the first so things go heated and he was replaced. Cheadle will now play Rhodes who dons the suit to become War Machine, a long-running character in the “Iron Man” comic books.
Iron Man 2 is scheduled to hit theatres on May 7, 2010.
