Colorado Rockies First Rounder Going Back to School But Still Negotiating

News

Kyle Parker, the first round pick of the Colorado Rockies, is expected to announce today that he will return to Clemson to be their quarterback. The Rockies can still sign with the Rockies by the August deadline from the MLB; he won’t be eligible to play baseball for Clemson if he does sign though.

There were reports that the Rockies and Parker were close to a deal yesterday, but those apparently were not true; it was reported to be between $2-3MM. The slot recommendation for the 26th pick is $1.5MM.

Baseball America reported that Parker had given a July 20th deadline for the Rockies to sign him to a baseball only contract. He still has 3 years of football eligibility for Clemson.
