New Fright Night Trailer Gives Us More Peter Vincent

Media, News, Trailers

Having watched the first trailer and now this clip, I’m getting the impression that Fright Night is out to prove that August is not a wasteland for new summer titles. And it’s not the only title to pique the interest of someone like me, as that month also gives us The Help and One Day, two films that are counter-programming to the plethora of special-effects driven hundred-million plus titles.

The film is an update to the 1985 original written and directed by Tom Holland, who is also responsible for Child’s Play, among others. Colin Farrell takes the role of Jerry, who recently moved in next door to the Brewsters. Oh, and he may also be a vampire. I know, you probably thought they only lived in Louisiana, Santa Carla or in the woods of Twilight, but apparently they can thrive in the city of sin, Las Vegas.

The new trailer is an assembly of old and new stuff. The notable new stuff is Peter Vincent (David Tennant), now envisioned as a Criss Angel-like Las Vegas magician and note a late-night TV B-movie host (sorry Roddy McDowell fans). The trailer continues to insinuate a darker tone but with a dash of sarcastic humor.

In addition to Farrell and Tennant, the film also stars Anton Yelchin, Toni Colette, Imogen Poots and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Fright Night looks to frighten your night on August 19th.
