Early Signs Are Positive For UFC on Fox 2: Evans vs. Davis Viewership

News, Top Story

The preliminary numbers for UFC on Fox 2: Evans vs. Davis put the organization’s sophomore effort on network television just 300,000 viewers behind the initial estimate for November’s broadcast of the world heavyweight title fight between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos. As reported by TV By Numbers, Saturday’s show did an average of 4.3million viewers for a 2.2 rating.

However the news should get even better for Dana White as these figures do not take fully take into account viewership on the West Coast, where the event was shown outside of primetime. As we saw with with Velasquez-Dos Santos this should lead the average viewership increasing substantially, maybe by as much as a million additional viewers. Equally this broadcast overran its scheduled 10pm finish time by twenty minutes, something that again is not taken into account by the figures we have available. Often sporting events will see their largest viewership during such overruns as their  audience is inflated by those tuning in for the next program. When its all said and done, there’s a real chance that the average viewership will be in excess of the 5.63million that watched UFC on Fox 1.
