Fans of the American Idol franchise have been clamouring for a change to the show’s tired format for many years, and now their wish has been granted (although it is under unfortunate circumstances).
Due to the sudden death of his father-in-law, panelist Keith Urban had to sit out Tuesday and Wednesday’s callback episodes in New York. The show then tapped Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert to step in beside Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. to hand out Golden Tickets to Hollywood.
The switch only lasted for the two episodes and is not permanent as of this writing.
