Alistar Overeem Says He Is Ready For Redemption, Wants To End 2014 On High Note After Loss To Ben Rothwell

Alistar Overeem has had a rough year and he is the first to admit it.

The former Strikeforce champion suffered an embarrassing loss to Ben Rothwell where he was knocked out in under three-minutes. As if that wasn’t bad enough, it was the Dutchman’s third knockout loss in his last four fights. With that said, Overeem says he is back and ready to fight in top form again and he will get his chance at UFC on FOX 13 in December against Stefan Struve.

“Sometimes you fall down, but you put in the work and you come back,” Overeem told UFC.com. “I’m 34 years old. If I would be injured, yes, maybe, but I still love what I do – I love working and improving. I’m an athlete, I’m a fighter, I’m a champion – this is what I do.”

The heavyweight says he has no problem meeting a fellow Dutchman in the Octagon.

“I don’t have any problems fighting a fellow Dutchman at all,” Overeem said. “He’s a nice guy, but we’ve never trained together. It’s work. It’s business.

“Of course, we’re going to have to be extra sharp, but I’m very motivated to be fighting my fellow Dutchman Stefan Struve and I can tell you that it is going to be fireworks.”
