Spoilers for Money in the Bank 2016 PPV.
At MITB 2016, Dean Ambrose prevailed over Kevin Owens, Alberto Del Rio, Cesaro, Chris Jericho and Sami Zayn for a title shot, at any time of his choosing, for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
WWE added the United States Championship match of Rusev vs. Titus O’Neal from the pre-show sandwiching it between the the MITB ladder match and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. Certainly that seems odd unless you realize it will allow Dean Ambrose to rest up before he cashes in his MITB 2016 briefcase and contract tonight as promised on the last Monday Night Raw. He has to do that unless he turns heel tonight because faces or “heroes” must live up to their promises while heels or “villains’ don’t have to give the fans what they want.
Certainly if the John Cena vs. AJ Styles match was sandwiched between the MITB ladder match and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match I’d be less suspicious (although it could simply have been booked earlier to avoid direct comparisons to the main event as the Cena vs. Styles match was expected to be, and actually was, first rate). Rusev vs. Titus O’Neil being so high up on the card, despite how much prestiage the US title should have, does seem odd and seems to point to some interesting twists involving Dean Ambrose in the Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins title match.
Or, while Dean Ambrose appears poised to be part of the MITB main event, does he enter during the match and allow Seth Rollins to pin Dean Ambrose to preserve Roman Reigns instead of Dean pinning Seth to preserve Reigns? Either of these scenarios seem plausible.
UPDATE: Well, Dean is champ, but Reigns was not preserved or protected. Looks like its the Summer of the ex-Shield as all 3 former members will vie for the title up to and at August’s Summerslam 2016
What do you think? Crazy theory or on-the-nose prediction?
We’ll know soon enough.
