Looking Ahead – 14th November 2006

Columns

Apologies for missing last week folks, work’s getting more and more busier (which is a good thing I suppose… helps break up the monotony) which means I’m going to be tired and grumpy more often than not.

However, the line-up and matches for Survivor Series has me stoked, so it’s all good in the Life of Dan.

SMACKDOWN, RAW & ECW

Next PPV – Survivor Series; 26/11/06

The Announced Card

DX, CM Punk, The Hardy Boys vs. Edge, Randy Orton, Johnny Nitro, Mike Knox, Gregory Helms

Nice to see CM Punk getting a Main Event spot, not so bothered about Mike Knox though, although he is pretty decent for a big guy, and given a few years seasoning he’ll be a good talent to have around.

DX and Edge/Orton will be the last 4 guys in the ring, the 5th being CM Punk, which should get a huge reaction from the crowd if the smarks outnumber the kiddywinks.

Nice to see the Hardy boys on the same team. No doubt we’ll be seeing some high-flying double team moves like the Hardy boy’s of old. It’s also nice to see Nitro and the awesome Gregory Helms in the Main Event, which will be a nice addition to the careers of both guys who won’t have a big chance to be in many PPV Main Events. At least not in the WWE anyway.

Not too sure on the final outcome though. Orton and Edge will probably still be the tag champs, but that isn’t a good enough reason for them to go over, as the Tag straps mean shit nowadays. Edge and Orton could do with the win more than DX, so they’re my pick.

Winners: The Team of Edge, Orton, Nitro, Knox, Helms, with Edge picking up the win

John Cena, Kane, Lashley, Sabu, RVD vs. Big Show, Test, MVP, Finlay, Umaga

Are Sabu and Test feuding, or should I pay more attention to ECW? Who knows, I can’t be bothered to read the results, so I’ll just go with it.

SHIT… I’ve just realised that JUMAGA is going to win the match for his team, but I really don’t want it to be over Cena. Unless this is the way that Umaga’s undefeated streak comes to an end thanks to a couple of F-U’s. That’s more appetising than the other option.

I really want Finlay to go mental and paste the crap out of all and sundry, especially Cena. That would make my night.

Big Show is an interesting person to look at, as he’s the ECW Champ, but he’s going to be eliminated, I’ve no doubt in my mind. The only possible way for the title to save face is to either have Big Show pinned with help from all 5 guys, or have a nice double team from RVD & Sabu, which would further push the feuds for the Elimination Chamber match at the ECW PPV.

Couldn’t care less about MVP.

Winners: Team Cena, with John Cena getting the win

Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, Dusty Rhodes, Sgt. Slaughter vs. Kenny, Johnny, Nicky, Mikey

With Johnny and Kenny being Co-Captains, you have to wonder if they are going to use that to drive the dissention in the Spirit Squad. I also think we might see the great “Fuck off, I’m not tagging you out” spot where Kenny (for example) wants to tag out yet the other 3 guys all turn away and look busy or something.

It’s a pity that Flair and Piper lost the tag titles so quickly, I think they could have been a decent addition to the tad ranks, even for a couple of months or so. Yeah, I know they aren’t up to much in the ring anymore, but they could have gone the Eddie Guerrero route and started stealing wins by cheating and whatnot. Just a thought.

Winners: Team Legends, with Flair the remaining member

Chris Benoit vs. Chavo Guerrero – US Title Match

It should be an awesome match, but I don’t see it claming the MOTN as so many other people in the IWC seem to think it will.

It’d be nice to see Chavo win the US title, as a thankyou of sorts for putting up with this shitty angle that has dragged on FAR too long for most people’s tastes.

Winner: Chavo Guerrero

Batista vs. King Booker – World Heavyweight Title Match

Batista = Big Bag of Wank
King Booker = Gold

Nothing more to be said.

Winner: To reveal who I think should win, do the math

The Undertaker vs. Mr. Kennedy – First Blood Match

Should be a standard “WWE” match, which is usually slowly paced and a tad uneventful. I doubt that Kennedy will go over here, so a Taker win is in the bag.

Winner: The Undertaker

Lita vs. Mickie James – Women’s Title Match

If this is Lita’s last stand, so to speak, then I’m pretty damn cure that this MIGHT be the MOTN. Honestly.

Lita can go when pushed and motiviated, and we all know Mickie James can put up a good fight. Bring it on.

Winner: Mickie James

The Last Bit…

This Week’s Shill – Radio 1’s Live Lounge Double CD Album

Go buy that. There’s great live versions of some of the best bands, covers and songs in music over the past couple of years. It’s awesome.

Other than that, not much else to say really.

Lots of love.
