THE HITCHER SWEEPSTAKES OFFERS MOVIE FANS CHANCE OF A LIFETIME “GET KILLED ON FILM”

AS TERRIFYING NEW THRILLER OPENS NATIONWIDE JANUARY 19

NEW YORK, January 8, 2007 Tying into the January 19th nationwide release of its terrifying new thriller The Hitcher, Rogue Pictures is offering movie fans the chance of a lifetime to “get killed on film.”

While a set visit is fine and a small part in a movie is fun, playing out meeting your maker on-camera is something truly unique. The Rogue-sponsored “Win a Chance to Get Killed on Film” sweepstakes Grand Prize is for the winner to film a “death scene” in an upcoming Rogue production.

No purchase is necessary for Continental U.S. legal residents, 18 years or older, to enter or win the sweepstakes. The contest gets underway on January 8th at The Hitcher‘s official website (www.neverpickupstrangers.com), and ends at the end of next month. Complete Official Rules for the sweepstakes are posted on the movie website.

From filmmaker Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes production company (producers of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) comes The Hitcher, an update of the 1986 film of the same name. Dave Meyers makes his feature directorial debut on the new thriller, which tracks the terrifying trajectory of Grace Andrews (Sophia Bush) and Jim Halsey (Zachary Knighton), a collegiate couple who are tormented by the mysterious hitchhiker John Ryder, a.k.a. The Hitcher (Sean Bean). The young couple hit the road in a 1970 Oldsmobile 442, en route to spring break. But their pleasure trip soon turns into a waking nightmare. The initial encounters with Ryder are increasingly off-putting for Grace and Jim, and they bravely fight back when he ambushes them. But they are truly blindsided when he implicates them in a horrific slaying and continues to shadow them. The open road becomes a suspenseful, action-packed battleground of blood and metal as, in trying to elude not only Ryder but also New Mexico State Police Lieutenant Esteridge’s (Neal McDonough) officers, Grace and Jim must fight for their lives and face their fears head-on.

Rogue Pictures (www.roguepictures.com) is devoted to producing and distributing high-quality suspense, action, thriller, comedy, and urban entertainment with mainstream appeal and franchise potential.

In addition to The Hitcher, upcoming Rogue Pictures releases include Edgar Wright’s Hot Fuzz, the new action comedy from the Shaun of the Dead team; Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon’s Balls of Fury, starring Dan Fogler, Christopher Walken, George Lopez, and Maggie Q; Neil Marshall’s DOOMSDAY, starring Rhona Mitra; and Bryan Bertino’s The Strangers, starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman.

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
