2006/2007 TV Season Ratings Report – Week 19 (1/22/07-1/28/07)

News

It was an interesting past week. There were more reruns than usual this week as we prepare for the start of “February Sweeps”. You will still notice that a pattern is starting to develop and it probably should stay like this for the rest of the season. Then again, this is “TV Land” and anything can happen. Find out which network was the big winner in another close race and which show took home the top prize, if there is any doubt…

CBS once again wins this week. They had a rough first half of the week with FOX dominating Tuesday and Wednesday, but CBS was consistent enough to at least split up the remaining days this week. I don’t see any network stopping them right now. Unless FOX gets some big numbers from 24 soon or some other shows begin to step up. NBC drops to third this week. They do have the quality to challenge CBS, but they are not quite there consistent enough to compete. And ABC has just dropped off the face of the map. Thursday and Sunday nights are the only nights to watch that channel and neither night is a dominating win for them anymore.

American Idol should be #1 for as long as it’s on the air. Mark that one down. No one can compete against them. Grey’s Anatomy is still a solid second, but it can’t help ABC alone. CBS is just good at everything, except for getting young viewers. NBC is usually best at that, but there are still far less viewers in that demographic. Of course, this could all change as we start February “Sweeps” month. Stay tuned…

Sir Linksalot: Television News

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
