February “Sweeps” started on Thursday night, but that didn’t change things that much. The pattern that has developed over the past few weeks continued here. Find out which show was #1 and what network ended up on top this week?

WEEK 20 RANKINGS

Networks:

#1 – CBS
#2 – FOX
#3 – NBC
#4 – ABC
#5 – The CW

Top 10 Shows:

#1 – NFL Super Bowl XLI (CBS)
#2 – American Idol (FOX)
#3 – House (FOX)
#4 – Grey’s Anatomy (ABC)
#5 – CSI (CBS)
#6 – Deal or No Deal (NBC)
#7 – Criminal Minds (CBS)
#8 – Shark (CBS)
#9 – Ugly Betty (ABC)
#10 – 24 (FOX)

No surprise here. The Super Bowl is the only show that can beat American Idol at this point. CBS already had this week wrapped up, but with the Super Bowl being on CBS as well, it just made it a no contest. CBs easily takes the top spot and FOX was just able to hold off NBC for #2. Despite the fact that ABC won the first night of “Sweeps” and was a solid second on Super Bowl Sunday, that still wasn’t enough for them to rise above #4. How the mighty have fallen?

The most surprising thing this week is House. It was FOX’s #1 show before American Idol came back. House had the biggest numbers of the season for that show, with the help of AI being a lead-in for House. Grey’s Anatomy was better than average this week, but still not good enough to get above #4. Shark and Ugly Betty continue to be the most watched new shows on TV, despite the hype behind Heroes. Things really begin to heat up as every network brings out their best from now until the end of February!

Sir Linksalot: Television News

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
