From a recent article in the Toronto Star:
Hart admitted that he took steroids when he first entered the WWE. He said they were needed as a remedy to the physically demanding aspects of being a “human basketball.”
“No one ever asked me to or forced me to, but everybody was on them and for me at the time, the only way I felt like I could feed my family and stay competitive was to take them,” he said.
“I didn’t take them in huge, heavy-dose quantities… but I think I took them smart and didn’t over do it.”
Hart claims he eventually stopped using performance-enhancing drugs and was steroid-free for his greatest matches.
