Rasslin Roundtable: TNA Genesis

Features, Roundtables

TNA World Heavyweight title
Kevin Nash/Kurt Angle (c) vs. Sting/Mystery Partner

Danny Cox: Booker shows up, West craps his pants cuz he’s so excited, Nash and Angle tease tension the whole match, and Angle slips in for a pin on Sting somehow.
Winner and STILL Champ: Kurt Angle

Paul Marshall: So let me get this straight. This is TNA’s way of booking a total clusterf*ck? Hell, it would be much better to have made this a four way dance. There’s guaranteed to be a lot of interference and there’s no way for the champion to retain…unless you’re Kurt Freakin’ Angle. Booker T won’t factor into the finish unless TNA wants to put the championship on another ex-WWE star. Sadly, Booker T isn’t the answer…TNA needs to worry about the talent that brought them to the big picture, otherwise they continue to not be the alternative.
Winner – Kurt Angle (Still TNA World Champion)

Vinny Truncellito: Booker T debuts and gets a token TNA Title reign.
Winner – Booker T

David Brashear: Booker T shows up and tags with Sting. Still, they’re not able to get the belt off Angle – which will likely lead into a Booker/Angle feud with Booker taking the title then.
Winner – Booker T

TNA X title
Jay Lethal (c) vs. Sonjay Dutt

Paul Marshall: The match was made on the last Impact before Genesis. While Team 3-D play with the X-Division, we get almost a guaranteed three star match with Lethal and Dutt. Lethal has passed the test last month, look for him to do so again.
Winner – Jay Lethal

Vinny Truncellito: They need to leave the strap on the Macho One a little while longer to make the eventual title switch more meaningful.
Winner – Jay Lethal

David Brashear: Whether you love the whole Black Machismo thing or hate it you’ve got to give Lethal credit – he’s taken what he was given and ran with it. And remember, it could have been worse. He could have been asked to be a wrestling zombie or Elvis impersonator. Dutt, on the other hand, needs a gimmick change immediately. The whole “Guru” thing is ridiculous.
Winner – Jay Lethal

Danny Cox: Will be a good match but there isn’t much of a point behind it at all.
Winner and STILL Champ: Black Savage

TNA World Tag Team titles
AJ Styles/Tomko (c) vs. Steiner Brothers

Vinny Truncellito: It couldn’t surprise me to see Vinny Ru give the Steiners one more run with the gold.
Winner – The Steiners

David Brashear: As much as I’ve enjoyed watching AJ find his inner heel, I don’t think that the time’s right to move the belts yet. Normally, I’d say that we’d see the Steiners chasing them a few months. Then I remember that AJ and Tomko got in the last shots on Impact, so
Winners – Steiner Brothers

Danny Cox: Again the only way this match would be good is if Rick and Scott came out to “STEINERLINE!” Otherwise they must realize that no-one cares about the Steiners anymore.
Winner and NEW Champs: Steiner Brothers

Paul Marshall: At least TNA has a tag team division with challengers left and right. I will give them credit, but that is as far as I go. They had a much better choice with LAX being the #1 Contenders, but they put the match on free TV. Did that match pop the rating? Nope…neither did the TNA World Title match. Take heed, TNA Management, make the paydays on Pay-Per-View. The match, however…Russo’s booking this.
Winners – Steiner Brothers

TNA Women’s title
Gail Kim (c) vs. ODB vs. Roxxi LeVeaux vs. Angel Williams

David Brashear: Where’s Amazing Kong? I would have expected a good Gail-Kong feud to roll on for a few months. Anyway, I doubt that we see the title change hands here.
Winner – Gail Kim

Danny Cox: They keep building up Kim Vs. Kong so why would she lose the title here. And how annoying is Roxxi? Seems kind of appropriate that she was paired up with VKM.
Winner and STILL Champ: Gail Kim

Paul Marshall: TNA Women’s Division > WWE Women’s Division. Amazing Kong is on the outside looking in, and will most likely have a factor in this match.
Winner – Gail Kim

Vinny Truncellito: Same as the X Title. Kim keeps the strap long enough to establish credibility before Kong eats her for brunch.
Winner – Gail Kim

Fight for the Right Finals
Ladder Match
Kaz vs. Christian Cage

Danny Cox: Match the of night here quite possibly if they would just go all out. Enjoy the spotlight while you can there Kaz because just look what happened to Harris and Storm when they were thrust into the main event scene. What you don’t see them on this PPV card? Neither do I!
Winner: Christian Cage

Paul Marshall: Kaz has been a star on the verge of breakout. It’s too late in 2007 to say that he is indeed the Breakout Star of the Year, but keep an eye on him in 2008. This is Christian’s match.
Winner – Christian

Vinny Truncellito: As interesting as it would be to see TNA truly elevate somebody new, I don’t believe Kaz has a chance here.
Winner – Christian Cage

David Brashear: Kaz is definitely the one to benefit from going through the tournament and making it to the finals. While I would have rather seen Harris or Storm make it, it’s good to see TNA giving someone new a shot. That said – no way is he ready to headline a PPV. Impact, maybe. Not a PPV.
Winner – Christian Cage

Shop of Horrors match
Abyss vs. Black Reign

Paul Marshall: Another cheesy stipulation that means Hardcore or No Holds Barred. Either WWE has many of those terms trademarked or TNA likes to make something up. If Black Reign puts in minimal effort, I will be surprised.
Winner – Abyss

Vinny Truncellito: Abyss never loses weirdo matches like this. Is Banderas healthy enough to interfere?
Winner – Abyss

David Brashear: And again Black Reign makes into on the PPV card. And again I wonder how and why.
Winner – Abyss

Danny Cox: If I don’t see Audrey II in this match, I’m going to be very upset.
Winner: Reigndust

Team 3D vs. the Motor City Machine Guns

Vinny Truncellito: The Guns need to go over here, or the wheels come off any chance they might have had in TNA.
Winner – The Motor City Machine Guns

David Brashear: The Dudleys are beyond stale by this point. When’s their next Japan tour?
Winners – Motor City Machine Guns

Danny Cox: Have they figured out no-one cares about the Dudleyz anymore either?
Winners: MCMG

Paul Marshall: They better win.
Winners – The Motor City Machine Guns

Samoa Joe vs. Robert Roode

David Brashear: Thanks for coming, Robert. Now remember. You’ve got a very important job tonight. We need you to lay on your back in the middle of the ring and check if there are any lights burned out. If there are, tell us after your match so we can get those fixed.
Winner – Samoa Joe

Danny Cox: Point?
Winner: Samoa Joe

Paul Marshall: Miss Brooks will enjoy the beating and she’ll be replaced by Roode’s #1 Fan. On the flip side, Samoa Joe will kill Robert Roode.
Winner – Samoa Joe

Vinny Truncellito: Yeah, right.
Winner – Samoa Joe
