So You Think You Can Dance Special – Introduction

Features, Interviews, Shows

On Nov. 1, the So You Think You Can Dance Tour finally arrived at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. It pains me to admit that even though I am known and credited as the world’s foremost reality television expert, I had never jumped on the Dance train. It was never for a lack of interest, but primarily scheduling difficulties that prevented me from watching the hit FOX and CTV program which just completed its third season.

When I was approached to review the show and interview the contestants, I immediately jumped on the opportunity. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to obtain screeners for most of the season (to catch up on what I had missed) and so two days before the dancers arrived in their only Canadian concert stop, I had a So You Think You Can Dance marathon at the Murtz mansion and watched episode after episode continuously. The result was being afflicted not only with insomnia, but also an irrepressible need to do the Paso Doble (the steps of which I learned in hour 14).

When the dancers arrived in Toronto, I spent a few minutes with each pair during the press hour and interviewed them in detail. I can say in all honesty that I was easily the most prepared in the room (given the marathon) and that I challenge you to find more thorough coverage of the show and tour that has taken North America by storm.

The show itself was phenomenal and it was a pleasure to review it. But the interviews were what I really enjoyed.

While we have presented many features in the past, there is no question that the most work went into this one and I’d like to especially thank Inside Pulse photographer Colin Yardley, John Cavanaugh, Scott Sawitz and Kevin Wong for their assistance in making this one of our best. I’d also like to thank CTV and BWR for their help in pulling off something of this magnitude.

It is now my pleasure to present the So You Think You Can Dance Special exclusively on Inside Pulse and Reality Dish. Starting today and over the next week, my interviews with the top 14 contestants will be featured. Everyday, one of my chats with two of the contestants will be spotlighted and the awesomeness begins today with my Jesus and Sara interview.

Here’s the schedule (for those of you who can’t wait) of how the interviews will be appearing.
