Kurt Angle to Stand Trial; Other WWE and TNA News & Notes

Kurt Angle has been ordered to stand trial for his DUI arrest last year, according to WTAE-TV.

In some ratings news, according to Nielsen Media Research, Smackdown continues to do well, picking up a 2.8 broadcast rating for January 4… and the TNA replay on 1/12 did a 0.6 cable rating.

WWE released developmental talent Derek Neikirk today. He was down in FCW (for recent results from the shows in Florida, including Ted DiBiase, Jr., Billy Kidman, Afa Jr., TJ Wilson and some former Spirit Squad members, click here).

In other developmental news, Antoni Pulaski (a.k.a. Roadkill in ECW) suffered a “stinger” last week vs. Matt Sydal in OVW. Also, WWE had all of its developmental talent take photos along with videos explaining who they were, when they were signed and how long they were in the system, which according to PWInsider.com’s sources was done as WWE begins creating “report cards” to track their progress.

Shelley Martinez’ (Ariel in ECW) official ring name in TNA is now Salinas. This is the married name of TNA President Dixie Carter.

Finally, in an interview with ClubWWI.com, Mae Young said, “I tell you what. I have on my 100th birthday, an appointment to wrestle Stephanie McMahon’s daughter, Aurora Rose and that’s gonna be my opponent on my 100th birthday… Stephanie has already promised me that I can do that, so I’m gonna do that. I’ll be there to do that.”
