World Wrestling Entertainment Suspends Performer

STAMFORD, Conn., March 11, 2008 – In accordance with its Substance Abuse and Drug Testing Policy, WWE has suspended Jeff Hardy for 60 days for his second violation of the company’s policy.
…I guess this is why he dropped the Intercontinental Championship last night to Chris Jericho. And yes, according to the line-up listing at WWE.com, he’s already been taken out of the Money in the Bank at WrestleMania. (Update 11:15am ET: Dave Scherer at PWInsider.com is saying, not surprisingly, that the backstage reaction at last night’s Raw was “shock and disbelief” to Hardy’s suspension… Update 5:15pm ET: Dave Meltzer at WrestlingObserver.com is saying that it’s not “believed to be” a positive steroids test, but the drug is unconfirmed at this point.)
That sound you hear is Jeff Hardy’s hopes of ever becoming WWE Champion scurrying away.
