Adamle Wrestling, Foley Not, Sting Maybe…

News

WWE has sent Mike Adamle to a personal trainer in Chicago as they are planning on having him wrestle matches in the future. Adamle used to be a capable NFL player but that was 30 years ago. His current General Manager character is something of a spoof on Eric Bischoff. When he blew off Primo Colon to rush over to John Cena on Raw it was an inside rib on how Bischoff would blow off WCW mid-carders to go talk to Sting or Hulk Hogan instead.

Vince McMahon made the call to not use Mick Foley as part of the Hell in the Cell match at SummerSlam. The creative team had a plan involving Foley in place but were told by Vince at a booking meeting to scrap it and come up with something new, since they were moving on without Foley.

TNA changed the planned Samoa Joe vs Kevin Nash main event of No Surrender to the current four-way title match in part due to Nash’s recent walk-out at a TV taping.

Sting was originally booked to do a run-in during Samoa Joe’s match at Hard Justice but this was changed to A.J. Styles’ match instead. TNA felt the fans were more likely to boo Sting against Styles than against Joe. Sting missed the subsequent TV tapings due to prolonged contract negotiations. There is not as much negativity about keeping him around as there was last year, since TNA is now making a profit. However, he was thought to be earning up to $600,000 a year on a limited schedule, which remains a controversial figure. Dixie Carter feels that having Sting with the promotion gives them added prestige for when they are seeking business deals, yet in terms of ratings or buyrates he means nothing. If Sting does not stick around for another year then this will have an effect on his current heel role. Ever since Ric Flair received his respectful farewell from WWE, TNA has been mindful that they could and should do the same for Sting when he retires. If his retirement comes sooner rather than later, he certainly will not be going out as a heel.
