Diana takes Tom home to meet her mother, Queen Hippolyta. Then she has business at Hollywood to talk about her new movie. Aha!

Truth be told, I was never a big fan of Wonder Woman. I always preferred her sister, Donna. The only run I read was by Phil Jimenez, whom I consider the ultimate WW writer, along with some issues here and there. Still, I read the first storyline of the new volume. I already could tell you that Gail Simone can write any character, but she seems to have a natural affinity for Diana. And I like that I chose to try WW on a more calm issue.

The interaction between Tom and Hippolyta was an intriguing one. It’s strange of Hippolyta giving credit to her daughter for her choice, but I suppose it’s logical. Tom’s devotion was obvious. His acceptance as an honorary Amazon was a surprise. Then Diana heads off to a meeting with a movie studio. She brings Tolifar and Rhanda (two of her Gorilla City “ambassadors” and current house guests) along for a show of force. A clever move that shows that maybe although Diana is an Amazon princess she still knows how the Hollywood games are played.

I was always a fan of Chang’s pencils and I believe he should be more appreciated. In this issue his pencils look a little bit closer to Lopresti’s. I believe it’s a conscious effort from his side for the reader not to feel strange about the feel in. His inks are quite heavy, but subtle though and compliment his art. It helps conveying the interesting personal dynamics in this issue. The interactions at the movie studio office are interesting. Ok. I won’t tell more. Go and get it.

Ok! Maybe something more. A sorceress is back fighting Diana. And by the end of the issue Diana is attacked by several old versions of herself, like the Cathy Lee Crosby version from TV, the powerless ’60s Emma Peel-clone, and her ’40s, ’50s and ’60s versions as well. I am intrigued. Aren’t you?
